Laurie started learning the piano at the age of 3 and went on to learn the violin and viola, playing in the Northamptonshire Youth Orchestra. At 16 he studied at the Junior Royal College of Music before continuing to study at the Royal Northern College of Music and Kingston University. He qualified as a teacher in 2015 from the Institute of Education and has since worked as a classroom teacher in schools around London, Shanghai and Cambridgeshire. He joined the PCYM team in 2024 and teaches piano, violin and cello.
