Cleo Wood started learning the cello and piano from the age of seven and was awarded a junior scholar place at The Royal Academy of Music studying with Florence Hooton when she was nine years old. Early highlights were solo performances at The Royal Albert Hall and performing Haydn and Elgar cello concertos with full orchestras.

At 16, Cleo was awarded a full scholarship to study a joint first cello and piano 4 year performance course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama followed by postgraduate studies in Orchestral Studies at London University.

A busy and varied freelance career as a soloist and orchestral player led to multiple tours of USA, Ireland and much of Europe, whilst at home, Cleo has worked with many orchestras and West End shows.

Having held teaching positions for both instruments in a wide variety of school settings, coupled with piano accompanying/coaching for all genres, including dance and theatre, Cleo is passionate about the importance of engaging with students of all ages and abilities to nurture a love of music that will hopefully last a lifetime.
